Two-pathway framework

The journey from scientific discovery to evidence-based policy is typically long and sequential. This means that policy recommendations often lag behind the latest research advances. SnowPI addresses this by running two pathways simultaneously. This ensures that new discoveries can be translated into practical information much more rapidly than in traditional research frameworks.

Crucially, these pathways do not operate in isolation. Scientific advances continuously sharpen climate assessments, while the challenges identified through societal and policy work help shape future research priorities. By converging at strategic points, the two pathways ensure that SnowPI’s outputs are both scientifically rigorous and directly relevant to real-world decision-making.
